Lethbridge rises four spots on national home rental price ranking

LETHBRIDGE, AB – While Lethbridge is still on the affordable end of rental prices across the country, it saw a jump over the last month.

Out of 30 communities analyzed by Rentals.ca and Bullpen Research and Consulting, Lethbridge was ranked the 24th most expensive in March. The city was 28th in February’s report.

A typical one-bedroom unit in Lethbridge went for an average of $964 per month in March, rising 1.8 per cent from February and 11.7 per cent from the same time last year.

Rentals with two bedrooms increased by 0.2 per cent from February to $1,082 in March, an increase of 2.8 per cent from 2019.

Between all types of residential rental properties, the average in Alberta was $1,235 per month. Only Newfoundland and Labrador ($934), Saskatchewan ($1,031), and New Brunswick ($1,060) were more affordable.

Six cities in Alberta were part of this study. The provincial ranking, with the national rank in brackets, is as follows.

Once again, Toronto is the most expensive city in the country to rent a home. A one-bedroom unit listed for $2,213 per month while it cost $2.887 for two bedrooms.
