LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have named their best rookie player of the season.

The Carl Trentini Memorial Award was given to forward Zack Stringer.

Stringer posted a video to social media, saying, “I’m very honoured to be this season’s Rookie of the Year. I’d like to thank all my friends, family, coaches, and especially teammates for helping me along the way.”

He finished the season having appeared in 48 games, registering 34 points (11g-23a) along with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-13 rating.

He lead the Hurricanes in rookie points while finishing 10th in WHL rookie scoring. Overall, he finished fifth among 16-year-old scoring in the league.

“Zack was a guy that we didn’t really look at as a 16-year-old,” said Head Coach Brent Kisio. “The way he plays, how much skill he has, how he thinks the game and his effort on the ice makes him a guy that we can put anywhere in the line-up and he always seems to make other guys better.
