Lethbridge County approves new procedure for public hearings during pandemic
LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – A new procedure to keep citizens involved in local issues has been approved by Lethbridge County Council.
A release from the county states that during its April 16 meeting, council approved the new procedure that will allow residents to submit information for public hearings without having to physically attend council chambers.
Residents can submit their thoughts either by telephone, mail or e-mail, before and during the hearing to be considered prior by council prior to members deciding on a proposed bylaw.
Public hearings are required for an amendment to a Statutory Bylaw, which can include amendments to the Land Use Bylaw, Intermunicipal Development Plans, and Area Structure Plans.
