216 new cases and one death added to April 25 COVID numbers

EDMONTON, AB. — The province continues to take aggressive measures to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional actions may be required in the coming days.

On Saturday, April 25, Alberta confirmed 216 new cases, including 28 cases that have not been assigned a specific health zone taking the new total to 4,233. There was one new death in the Calgary health zone, taking the number of total deaths to 73, and 1,471 recovered cases.

Of the total cases, there are 77 people in hospital, 20 of whom have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

The breakdown by regional health zone is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 2,964 cases, 46 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton zone – 475 cases, 10 deaths
  • South zone – 510 cases, two deaths
  • North zone – 173 cases, 14 deaths
  • Central zone – 83 cases, one death

South Zone break-down:

  • Brooks – 452 cases (63 new), two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 25 cases (two new), 11 recovered
  • Lethbridge – 12 cases, eight recovered
    • West Lethbridge – seven cases, five recovered
    • South Lethbridge – five cases, three recovered
  • Cypress County – eight cases, five recovered
  • County of Newell – five cases (one new)
  • M.D. of Taber – two cases, two recovered
  • County of Forty Mile – two cases, two recovered
  • Lethbridge County – one case
