LETHBRIDGE, AB – Cole Miller is officially a Lethbridge Hurricane.

The team has signed their 2020 WHL Bantam Draft first-round pick to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.

The 15-year-old forward was selected by the Hurricanes 16th overall in the draft. Originally from Edmonton, Miller last played for the Edmonton KC Squires Bantam AAA club.

Over 28 games during the 2019-2020 season, he totalled 26 points (11 goals and 15 assists), along with 10 penalty minutes.

“It’s a tremendous honour to be drafted by the Hurricanes,” Miller said in a release issued by the club.

“It was a goal that I set for myself at the start of this season to be drafted into the WHL and to be drafted by the Hurricanes, it’s closer to home, and it’s super special to be taken 16th overall; it’s amazing right now and I’m super excited to come to Lethbridge for training camp.”

Miller also suited up in three games with the Edmonton KC Squires Midget team in 2019-2020, recording two points (one goal, one assist).

In two seasons with the Edmonton KC Squires, he appeared in 60 regular season games, recording a total of 57 points (24 goals, 33 assists) to go along with 26 penalty minutes.

“I like to describe myself as a power forward,” he said.

“I like to use my size and speed to create open chances for myself and for teammates and one of my biggest strengths is my 200-foot game. I pride myself on my defensive zone as much as I do in the offensive zone.”

Miller is expected to play Midget AAA in 2020-2021.
