LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge College women’s volleyball team has announced two new signees.

Eryka Woods has committed to the Kodiaks team. The Lethbridge product last played with the Panther Volleyball Club in Coaldale, while studying at Chinook High School.

“We are super excited for a local from Chinook High School to be joining us next year,” said team coach Anna Schwark in a Kodiaks Athletics release.

“We have been watching Eryka for a few years now and we are really glad to have the opportunity to keep her home for a few more years.”

Woods helped the Chinook Coyotes capture the zone championship in each of the last four years, while being named a first team all-star in her senior year. She plays the middle position.

“I’m excited to be joining the Kodiaks because I have always looked up to them growing up,” Woods stated in the release.

“Playing volleyball in Lethbridge and to be able to play for them now is very exciting. I’m looking forward to a higher level of competition and to be able to play with such an amazing group of girls.”

The team has also announced the commitment of Calgary native Reia Taylor.

The left side will be graduating from the Ace Volleyball Club in Calgary.

“She has a really high contact point which is awesome and is a very consistent passer, which is a skill [we are] always looking to improve upon in this program,” coach Schwark said.

“I enjoy watching Reia play because though she is quite shy off the court, she definitely has a strong presence on the court, and I am looking forward to getting to see that competitive side of her.”

Taylor was awarded the Senior Girls Volleyball MVP at All Saints High School and was named captain of her club team the U18 Ace of Spaces – Black.

“I am very excited to become a Kodiak,” she said.

“I’ve always dreamt of playing at a higher level like this and it’s finally here. I can’t wat to get to another level of volleyball.”

The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team finished fourth in the ACAC south division last season.
