LETHBRIDGE, AB – One of Lethbridge’s sister cities is lending a helping hand to YQL.

Anyang, China has donated surgical masks to City of Lethbridge front line staff, including Fire/EMS and Lethbridge Police officers.

Lethbridge’s mayor Chris Spearman and Anyang’s acting mayor Yuan Jiajian recently exchanged letters re-affirming the long-standing friendship between the two cities.

“During this difficult time, this is a wonderful gesture of support from our sister city,” Spearman said in a release issued by the City of Lethbridge.

Spearman visited Anyang City in February 2017.

“This donation of surgical masks to the City of Lethbridge to help battle COVID-19 is an appreciated step in our continued relationship,” he stated.

“We greatly thank our sister city of Anyang.”

The donation will be inventoried through the City of Lethbridge Emergency Coordination Centre to be used by employees on the front lines in the coming weeks.

The personal protective equipment arrived from China on Wednesday. The City of Lethbridge has received 12,000 surgical masks to date.
