Lethbridge Mayor and Emergency Management Director update revised plans regarding COVID-19

May 1, 2020 | 3:43 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – Mayor Chris Spearman and Lethbridge Director of Emergency Management Greg Adair addressed the latest announcement from the Alberta government and AHS.

On April 30th, Jason Kenney and the Alberta Government outlined some of the new restriction changes to the province regarding COVID-19.

One of the new revisions made are that Golf courses across the province are allowed to open starting Saturday, May 2, with special restrictions of course.

Other restrictions that are going to be changed as we navigate through this strange time is that small businesses and other sorts of shops and bars are going to be able to open, once the province provides more information.

Dates of openings for shops and such is still undetermined.

Adair says it will take time and special steps.

“They (AHS) provided a four-point strategy on how to relaunch Alberta from the immediate to stage one, two, and three, so we have many questions within that document and I can tell you we’ve been working on that — if you’re a golfer this is wonderful news.”

Getting out on the links will be much different compared to one year ago, with social distancing measures put in place and the number of golfers out on the course may change too.

Mayor Spearman said that a more “involved” discussion will happen on May 11th and by then there should be a more clear-cut plan in place.
