MEDICINE HAT — The Medicine Hat Regional hospital was placed on lockdown for a short period Tuesday night after on-line threats were posted on the Internet platform Reddit.
After investigation, police determined the threat originated as a form of retaliation against a 12-year-old former Medicine Hat boy who had been involved in an online game with others in different parts of North America.
One of the other players became angry and said they were going to “swat” the younger player, meaning they would make a prank call to emergency services.
Investigators traced the I-P address associated with the threat and determined it was from Seattle.
