LETHBRIDGE, AB. — With the constant curveballs that COVID-19 keeps throwing at us and our plans, the University of Lethbridge is still planning to have in-person program delivery for the fall semester.

While it’s still uncertain what the situation will be like come September of 2020, the U of L is committed to offering proper program delivery.

President Dr. Mike Mahon says they have to analyze every possible problem.

“We are planning for all scenarios and are working closely with faculty and staff to ready our courses for traditional and alternative delivery models. The safety of our community will continue to be our priority, so we will take our guidance from Public Health authorities about any restrictions that may still need to remain in place.”

Dr. Mahon also says that they have surveyed what could possibly happen and have broken it down into three different scenarios.

— If Public Health allows it, all in-person classes will continue as normal this Fall.

— If Public Health restrictions are loosened, but continue to limit the number of people who can congregate in one place, courses will be offered in a combined way, with some held online and smaller courses and practical experiences held in person.

— Lastly, if no restrictions are lifted, then the program delivery will remain primarily online and will be taught very similar to the most recent semester that was finished.

“Following the spring semester, teams from the Teaching Centre, Student Affairs and each Faculty and School immediately began working towards the fall semester. We are continuously enhancing and advancing how we teach through an alternative model,”

Mahon and other executives say that the decision will have to be made once they know what the situation will be like in September.
