Only one-third of COVID-19 cases in Alberta still active
EDMONTON, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its update for COVID-19 on Friday, May 8.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw says, as the province gets closer to relaunching more parts of the economy, she wants to focus more heavily on how many cases are still active rather than just the total number of people who have tested positive at one point or another.
Out of 6,098 confirmed cases to date, 1,963 are still active. The rest have all recovered.
80 patients are currently in hospital, 17 of which have been admitted to intensive care units.
