Several people arrested following three drug busts in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) made a trio of significant drug busts this week.

Between the three incidents, 10 people were put behind bars but only five are facing charges.

First, on Wednesday, May 6, a search warrant was executed at a home on the 900 block of 12 Street South.

Police arrested a man and seized nearly 30 grams of suspected carfentanil, nearly $5,000 in cash, Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia, multiple cell phones, and stolen credit cards. There was also a traffic stop conducted on a vehicle after it left the property where two women were apprehended. They seized a quantity of cash and cellphones that reportedly had evidence of drug trafficking.

Mohammud Ayah, 24, of Toronto, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on July 16.

Adelina Christine Adams, 27, of Lethbridge, faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions, and one county of failing to comply with an undertaking. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 16.

Domonique Jacqueline Mae Betts, 21, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 16.

The following day, LPS executed a search warrant at a home on the 500 block of 7 Ave South following an investigation into suspected drug activity.

Officers arrested four people in the home and claim to have found bear spray, small quantities of fentanyl and meth, drug paraphernalia, and a generator that was related to a break and enter in 2016.

Kory James Shouting, 40, of Lethbridge, faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.

The other three suspects were released without charges.

On the same day, police searched a home on the 300 block of 20 Street North and arrested three people.

They found a bike chop shop with multiple bike parts, power tools, and sanders for removing paint, and drug paraphernalia. As well, stolen property was confiscated including two high-end mountain bikes, golf clubs, pontoon boat tubes, stolen cheques, and a backpack containing stolen tools from a recent car prowling theft.

Bradley Peter Smith, 53, of Lethridge, is charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on July 30.

The other two suspects were released without charges.
