LETHBRIDGE, AB- Lethbridge’s new City Manager has arrived after months of searching for the right person for the job.

Craig Dalton has taken over for Interim City Manager Jody Meli, effective yesterday (Tues), and is transitioning into the role.

“I am honoured to be working for the City of Lethbridge and to call this great city my new home,” says Dalton. “I am a strong believer in values-based leadership, focusing on the importance of innovation, relationships, and communication as key pillars in good public service.”

At Tuesday’s council meeting, Councillors Jeff Coffman and Jeff Carlson were proud to call Dalton a coworker now.

Dalton’s arrival was highly anticipated by Council and now that he is here, steps to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic will be kickstarted.

Coming to Lethbridge, Dalton says he’s here to stay.

“It’s evident by me being here I’m packing up with my wife and moving across the country, things will be great when she gets here in August, we’re fully committed to joining the community and living in Lethbridge. One of the reasons I pursued this opportunity was because of the reputation of the city.”

Dalton says he is thrilled to start his career in Lethbridge even though this challenging time can be intimidating.

Taking over as the new city manager during a time like this will present problems but Dalton says he’s ready.
