TABER, AB – Taber Police have arrested a man accused of trafficking restricted weapons.

On Tuesday, May 19, officers conducted a search warrant at a home on the 5100 block of 45 Ave.

It was part of a joint investigation between Taber Police, the Guns and Gangs Unit of Calgary Police, and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team.

Dylan Matthew Braun, 27, of Taber, has been charged with eight counts of firearms trafficking of restricted weapons. The exact firearms in question were not disclosed.

He was also reportedly in possession of a stolen 2018 Dodge Ram truck. Braun was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and uttering a forged document.

Police claim that he was involved in firearms trafficking offences that occurred in both Taber and Calgary.

“This is an excellent example of multiple policing partners working together in the interest of public safety in an effort to stem the flow of firearms being sold illegally and ending up in the hands of criminals,” said Taber Police Sgt. Steve Meggison.

“The investigation is ongoing in Calgary, however, there is no indication that there are any further ties to Taber.”

Braun was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on July 28.
