LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Residents of rural communities in the Lethbridge County can once again use local playground facilities.

They closed earlier this year as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, but have reopened as of Friday, May 29 due to some of these measures being relaxed.

“Citizens are reminded that using play equipment is at their own risk and that COVID-19 public health orders remain in place and must be followed,” reads a media release from Lethbridge County.

Officials are making the following recommendations for playground use:

  • Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms must not use the equipment
  • Practice proper hand hygiene by washing your hands frequently, not touching your face, and having sanitizer on hand that contains at least 60 percent alcohol to use immediately prior to and following use of equipment
  • Encourage children to avoid sharing toys or sports equipment and limit contact with individuals outside of your household or cohort family
  • Maintain two metres of physical distance from others
  • Adhere to public health orders regarding gatherings
  • Visit playgrounds that are close to your home
