Lethbridge County lifts road bans issued in March

Jun 1, 2020 | 9:44 AM

LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Thanks for favourable conditions, Lethbridge County has lifted the road bans that were issued on March 30, 2020.

The lifting is in effect as of 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1.

Lethbridge County implemented the road bans back in March in order to maintain a safe and acceptable level of service, and to reduce the amount of damage caused by loading during periods when roads were most susceptible to excess deterioration.

The majority of hard top roads were banned to 75-percent load and the County says many of those roads are now at 100-percent.

“Road users should check the complete road ban list to determine the maximum allowable weights,” the County advised in a public release.

More details can be found here.

Lethbridge County warned that should conditions change, road bans may be reinstated.

“Provincial highways are managed and banned accordingly by Alberta Transportation,” read the release.

Further details can be found via Alberta Transportation’s website.
