LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s not a case you hear about every day.

Lethbridge Police are looking for a couple they say is responsible for a string of perfume thefts. LPS say thousands of dollars worth of perfumes were stolen from local Shoppers Drug Mart stores.

On June 2, between 4:30 and 7:40 p.m., a male and female reportedly stole high end perfume from the Park Place Mall, Columbia Boulevard, Mayor Magrath Drive and 26 Avenue North Shoppers locations, totaling around $13,000.

LPS say an investigation found that the male would enter the store first and distract staff, while the female would fill a basket with perfume. The couple would then transfer the bottles to the female’s bag and exit the store, according to police.

“It is believed the female’s bag contained a demagnetizing device as security sensors were not set off,” read a notice from the Lethbridge Police Service.

“Similar incidents have taken place in other Shopper’s Drug Mart stores across the province.”

Anyone with further details or who recognizes the subjects is asked to call police at 403-328-4444.
