Jun 3, 2020 | 2:01 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) are reminding the public about fire safety after an accidental fire was started Tuesday.

Firefighters from three stations were called to a home in the Copperwood neighbourhood on the west side.

Upon their arrival, flames were visible from the back of the home and smoke could be seen coming out of the attic vents.

LFES says a barbeque on the back deck had malfunctioned and caught fire. The blaze extended onto the siding and exterior of the home.

One person suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Damages to the exterior, windows, and the rear deck are estimated at $20,000.
