NHL announces Phase 2 of Return-to-Play Plan

Jun 5, 2020 | 2:03 PM

TORONTO, ON- Starting Monday, June 8th, the National Hockey League (NHL) will allow NHL teams, players, and trainers to use on-ice and off-ice facilities.

This new step essentially could be NHL’s players first time they will be allowed on the ice since the postponement of the season on March 12th.

Clubs will be permitted to reopen their training facilities in their home city to allow players to participate in individualized training activities.

Players will be participating in a voluntary-based training session and will be scheduled to practice in small groups of a maximum of six players at one time.

The various measures set out in the Phase 2 Protocol are intended to provide players with a safe and controlled environment in which to resume their conditioning.

Before phase 2 can start all personnel must complete education, diagnostic testing, scheduling for medicals, etc.

This is not a guarantee the season will resume, but it certainly is a step in the right direction.
