Next phase of University Drive twinning to start Saturday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new detour will be set up as part of the University Drive Twinning project this Saturday, June 13.

Traffic on University Drive West between Grand River Boulevard West and Macleod Drive will be diverted to two-way traffic on the existing northbound lanes.

Meanwhile, the southbound lanes will be closed for this next phase of construction.

The City of Lethbridge says a pedestrian detour will be in place to keep workers and members of the public safe. This latest stage is expected to be finished by June 20, with work being weather dependent.

Both lanes of traffic north of the SunRidge roundabout will be reopened for this portion of the project.

University Drive West is being twinned from north of Stadium Drive West to south of SunRidge Boulevard West in order to increase the roadway’s capacity for handling an increase in traffic.

The city stated that future stages of the work will involve additional partial intersection closures.
