Taber police charge two and recover property taken in several thefts

TABER, AB. — An investigation that began after a complaint about a man sleeping in a storage unit, resulted in two search warrants and the recover of about $20,000 in stolen property.

On Tuesday (June 16), Taber Police officers, questioned a man and a woman near the storage unit. Both subjects were arrested. The 40 year old woman from Calgary was charged with Possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine and Failing to Comply with a Release Order.

As a result of the search warrants, a 42 year old man, also of Calgary, was charged with five counts of Possess Stolen Property Under $5000 as well as Possess a Firearm Without Holding a Licence.

Taber Police received help from Lethbridge police, in executing a search warrant at hotel room in Lethbridge, while other Taber officers executed a search warrant at a Taber storage unit.

Between the two locations, officers retrieved stolen property such as guitars, tools and bicycles, including property from a number of Thefts and a Break & Enters that occurred in Claresholm. Some of the recovered property also related to two previously unsolved Break & Enters in Taber.

Taber Police are working on returning property to the victims.

Both subjects have been released and will appear in Taber court on September 15, 2020. At this time, no names will be released pending the swearing of information.
