Trudeau says fiscal update coming on July 8

OTTAWA, ON – A fiscal update will be introduced into the House of Commons next month.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced “an economic and fiscal snapshot” will be given on July 8.

Trudeau said that COVID-19 has presented an unprecedented challenge. and the government put everything on the table. He touted the Canada Emergency Response Benefit, the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and other sector and demographic-specific outlays.

“Taken together, we’ve now introduced the largest economic measures in our lifetimes, measures that are helping millions of people, because that’s what the situation demanded,” said Trudeau.

He added the economic update will give Canadians “a picture of where our economy is right now, how our response compares to that of other countries and what we can expect for the months to come.”
