49 new COVID-19 cases confirmed across Alberta Thursday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The provincial government has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Thursday, June 18.

49 cases were confirmed provincially, bringing the total to 7,579. Of those, 489 cases are still active while 6,938 have recovered.

One person in the Edmonton zone died as a result of the virus, taking the total to date to 152 Albertans.

34 people remain in hospital as a result of COVID-19, including six who have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

The regional breakdown is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 5,143 cases, 222 active
    • 111 deaths
    • 18 in hospital, three in ICU
  • South zone – 1,287 cases, 30 active
    • 10 deaths
    • One in hospital
  • Edmonton zone – 770 cases, 201 active
    • 14 deaths (one new)
    • 12 in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 277 cases, 30 active
    • 16 deaths
    • Three in hospital, one in ICU
  • Central zone – 88 cases, two active
    • One death
