Province reports 31 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – 31 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Alberta on Sunday.

The latest update from the province brings the total number of cases to 7,704. 534 of those cases are listed as active, with Alberta having seen 7,018 recoveries.

33 people are in hospital, with seven in intensive care (ICU). No new deaths were reported Sunday. To date, 152 Albertans have died due to COVID-19.

Additionally, 389,405 tests have been completed, according to the province.

Below is a list of cases per health zone in Alberta:

· Calgary Zone – 5,186 cases (235 active cases)

o 20 in hospital, three in ICU, 111 deaths

· South Zone – 1,288 cases (20 active cases)

o One in hospital, zero in ICU, 10 deaths

· Edmonton Zone – 846 cases (238 active cases)

o Nine in hospital, three in ICU, 14 deaths

· North Zone – 279 cases (34 active cases)

o Three in hospital, one in ICU, 16 deaths

· Central Zone – 89 cases (three active cases)

o Zero in hospital, zero in ICU, one death

16 cases have been reported in zones that are unknown, with four of those cases listed as active.

The following is a breakdown of the numbers for the South Health Zone.

Note that the province has recently changed the way it displays information on the geospatial map, which is how LNN receives the details for this. Due to the changes, some of the local numbers may be off from what we have previously reported.

· Brooks – 1,119 cases, two active, nine deaths

· Medicine Hat – 36 cases, zero active

· Lethbridge – 36 cases, four active

o North Lethbridge – eight cases, two active

o West Lethbridge – 14 cases, one active

o South Lethbridge – 14 cases, one active

· Cardston County – 39 cases, nine active, one death

· Cypress County – 21 cases, zero active

· County of Newell – 20 cases, zero active

· Fort Macleod – Nine cases, three active

· Lethbridge County – Three cases, two active

· M.D. of Taber – Two cases, zero active

· County of Forty Mile – Two cases, zero active
