Crews respond to brush fire in Lethbridge’s river bottom

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE: Traffic remains slow on westbound Whoop Up Drive, as some emergency crews remain on scene as of 8:30 p.m.

A cause of the Monday fire has not been revealed, and no injuries have been reported.

According to the City of Lethbridge, the flames were reported to be under control shortly before 7:00 p.m.

Lethbridge fire crews are on scene of a brush fire in the river bottom.

The blaze is on the west side of the Oldman River, north of Whoop Up Drive.

Drivers are asked to expect delays on Whoop Up heading westbound, with emergency crews in the right lane, reducing traffic to a single lane.

The City of Lethbridge says three fire stations are on scene and fortunately, the fire is said to now be under control. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
