South Zone stays clear of new COVID-19 cases Monday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its report on COVID-19 for Monday, June 22.

32 new infections were confirmed, bringing the total to 7,736. Of those, 542 cases are still active while 7,041 people have recovered.

The number of cases in the South Zone remains flat at 1,288.

One person in the Calgary zone died as a result of the virus over the last day, meaning COVID-19 has now claimed the lives of 153 Albertans.

The regional breakdown is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 5,208 cases, 245 active
    • 112 deaths
    • 157,868 tests
  • South Zone – 1,288 cases, 21 active
    • 10 deaths
    • 26,617 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 857 cases, 236 active
    • 14 deaths
    • 106,882 tests
  • North zone – 279 cases, 34 active
    • 16 deaths
    • 27,955 tests
  • Central zone – 89 cases, three active
    • One death
    • 27,275 tests

As for the breakdown for the South Health Zone, the province recently changed the way they display information on the geospatial map, which is how we get the information for this. Due to this change, some of the local numbers may be off from what we have previously reported.

  • Brooks – 1,119 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Cardston County – 39 cases, nine active, one death
  • Lethbridge – 36 cases, four active
    • West Lethbridge – 14 cases, one active
    • South Lethbridge – 14 cases, one active
    • North Lethbridge – eight cases, two active
  • Medicine Hat – 36 cases, zero active
  • Cypress County – 21 cases, zero active
  • County of Newell – 20 cases, zero active
  • Fort Macleod – Nine cases, three active
  • Lethbridge County – Three cases, two active
  • M.D. of Taber – Two cases, zero active
  • County of Forty Mile – Two cases, zero active
