U of L kicks off digital convocation week

Jun 22, 2020 | 1:57 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – While public health restrictions mean graduating students at the University of Lethbridge will not be able to attend in-person convocation ceremonies, another celebration is underway.

The U of L has virtual activities taking place all week to celebrate the 1,456 graduates.

“To say we’re so proud of this year’s uLethbridge graduates is really an understatement,” says Kathleen Massey, the University’s associate vice-president (students). “Their accomplishments represent our greatest hopes for them — to be equipped to deal with whatever life throws at them, including a pandemic — and to do it in style, their way, and with success. Congratulations, class of 2020!”

Students have or should be receiving their “convocation in a box” that contains their cap and tassel, diploma, a commemorative program, an alumni pin, an Indigenous stole for Indigenous students, and honour cords for those who have earned them.

Monday:

First up for graduation week is a video of Luxie, the Pronghorns’ mascot, opening its convocation box.

Videos from graduating students will be shared.

Tuesday:

More graduates share their U of L stories and faculty members will congratulate them

Thursday:
