Alberta RCMP detachments to resume limited front counter services

Jul 7, 2020 | 12:24 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Starting Thursday, July 9, RCMP detachments will once again welcome residents back into their officers.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the force announced back in March that they would be temporarily limiting in-person services at their detachments.

The Alberta RCMP is following the provincial relaunch to gradually normalize service delivery through a “phased approach” that will be “gradual and flexible.”

The exact services being offered in-person will vary depending on local government guidelines and from Alberta Health Services.

The following control measures will be implemented at all detachments:

  • A limited number of guests will be allowed inside at one time
  • Employees will remain physically-distant and disinfect surfaces
  • Anyone showing signs of illness will not be allowed to enter

The public is asked to only attend RCMP detachments for mandatory, priority services that cannot be done over the phone.

Priority services include taking complaints, criminal record checks, and collision reports.

Hours of operation may vary with each detachment so residents are asked to call ahead to check when they will be open, what services and protocols to expect, and how to access various services.
