Lethbridge woman facing charges for erratic driving in the East Kootenay

ELK VALLEY, B.C. — RCMP have not released a name but, a Lethbridge woman faces several charges after police responded to three separate reports of an erratic driver in the region.

All the incidents happened on Monday, (July 6) in the area of Elko, Sparwood and Elkford.

Elk Valley RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services report the driver of a white Nissan Altima was seen driving into oncoming traffic and swerving excessively all over the road.

The vehicle was seen near the 4-way intersection in Elkford, however, it drove off when police attempted to stop it.

Police did not pursue, but headed south on Highway 43, where the vehicle was last seen, to conduct a safety stop.

The woman was arrested for several offences, including operating while impaired, dangerous driving, flight from peace officer, failure or refusal to comply with blood demand, possession of stolen property and failure to comply with an undertaking.

No one was injured and the woman is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
