G3 Terminal opens on Canada’s West Coast and transforms Canada’s grain supply chain

WINNIPEG, MAN. — Grain company G-3 Canada has opened a commercial state-of-the-art grain export terminal at the Port of Vancouver.

According to the Winnipeg-based firm, the construction of the new facility began in 2017 and it will help Western Canadian farmers save time and money by keeping their grain moving to market.

For the past few months it has efficiently taken in Prairie grain by rail and loading it onto ships as part of a careful and successful commissioning process.

The Vancouver terminal can handle up to three 150-car trains on its loop track and the dock can accommodate vessels up to Capesize, which is the largest dry cargo ship. The three large ship loaders are have set a new industry standard, by moving grain on board at up to 6,500 tonnes per hour.

The terminal receives and ships a variety of grains and oilseeds and has a storage capacity of 180,000 metric tonnes.

G3 Canada Limited, a Canadian incorporated company that operates a network of grain elevators in Western Canada and port terminals in Eastern Canada. Its shareholders are G3 Global Grain Group (a joint venture of Bunge Canada and SALIC Canada Ltd), and Western Canadian farmers through the Farmers Equity Trust.
