Original story:

The City of Lethbridge has lifted its fire ban for the coulees.

It was first enacted back in March as a means of keeping people from congregating close together due to COVID-19.

The relaxed restrictions mean campfires can be used at designated sites.

“Precaution should still be taken when having fires. Make sure to use clean dry wood and that your fire is completely out before you leave,” reads a statement from the City of Lethbridge. “We would also like to remind residents to be extra cautious when disposing of smoking materials.”

When having fires, residents are asked to still maintain proper physical distances of two metres from others to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Anyone with questions on the updated fire restrictions is asked to call the Fire Prevention Office at 403-320-3811 or email fireprevention@lethbridge.ca
