168 COVID cases confirmed over the weekend in Alberta

EDMONTON, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its report on COVID-19 for Monday, July 13.

It includes the numbers for both Saturday and Sunday.

In that time, 168 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 8,826. Of those, 676 cases are still active while 7,989 people have recovered.

Of those, 25 new infections were in the South Health Zone with additional cases in Brooks, all three sections of Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, the County of Warner, Fort Macleod, the M.D. of Taber, Lethbridge County, and the County of Forty Mile.

As well, the M.D. of Pincher Creek saw its first five COVID cases.

This is the first time in at least a month that the number of active cases for the South Zone has surpassed 100.

One person in the North Zone died, meaning COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 161 Albertans to date.

540,102 tests have been completed in Alberta.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 5,619 cases, 267 active
    • 112 deaths
    • 197,416 tests
  • South zone – 1,424 cases, 110 active
    • 12 deaths
    • 33,943 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 1,252 cases, 199 active
    • 19 deaths (one less)
    • 155,118 tests
  • North zone – 379 cases, 53 active
    • 17 deaths (one new)
    • 37,380 tests
  • Central zone – 127 cases, 35 active
    • One death
    • 34,381 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,121 cases (two new), three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 56 cases (five new), 13 active
    • West Lethbridge – 25 cases (two new), five active
    • South Lethbridge – 18 cases (two new), four active
    • North Lethbridge – 13 cases (one new), four active
  • Medicine Hat – 51 cases (one new), nine active, one death
  • Cardston County – 45 cases, six active, one death
  • County of Warner – 44 cases (two new), 41 active, one death
  • Cypress County – 30 cases, five active
  • County of Newell – 21 cases, one active
  • Fort Macleod – 16 cases (five new), nine active
  • M.D. of Taber – 14 cases (two new), five active
  • Lethbridge County – 12 cases (two new), eight active
  • County of Forty Mile – Six cases (one new), three active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – Five cases (five new), five active
