Alberta surpasses 10K COVID cases to date

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

111 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 10,086. Of those, 1,341 are still active while 8,567 people have recovered.

This includes another 15 infections in the South Health Zone with five more in Lethbridge, the first two in Brooks in weeks, and the second case to date in the Crowsnest Pass.

Two more deaths in the Edmonton Zone have been announced, meaning COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 178 Albertans.

95 people are currently hospitalized and 19 have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

623,442 tests have been completed in the province.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 6,242 cases, 703 active
    • 115 deaths
    • 220,458 tests
  • South zone – 1,569 cases, 141 active
    • 14 deaths
    • 38,188 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 1,473 cases, 232 active
    • 31 deaths (two new)
    • 174,796 tests
  • North zone – 480 cases, 90 active
    • 17 deaths
    • 43,477 tests
  • Central zone – 296 cases, 167 active
    • One death
    • 40,880 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,123 cases (two new), four active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 96 cases (five new), 42 active
    • West Lethbridge – 44 cases (two new), 19 active
    • South Lethbridge – 26 cases, 10 active
    • North Lethbridge – 26 cases (three new), 13 active
  • Cardston County – 70 cases (three new), 19 active, two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 58 cases, seven active, one death
  • County of Warner – 52 cases, five active, one death
  • Cypress County – 30 cases, zero active
  • Fort Macleod – 30 cases (two new), 13 active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 28 cases (one new), 15 active
  • Lethbridge County – 24 cases (one new), 13 active
  • County of Newell – 22 cases, two active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 17 cases, 10 active
  • County of Forty Mile – Nine cases, three active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases (one new), two active
