Eight new COVID-19 cases in Lethbridge Tuesday

EDMONTON, AB – Alberta Health Services released Tuesday’s report on the virus, covering data from July 27, showing 80 new COVID-19 cases in the province.

To date, 10,470 people have contracted the virus in Alberta. 1,397 cases are still active while 8,886 people have recovered, and one new death was reported.

Of the new cases, the South Health Zone saw another 17 infections, with eight of those in the City of Lethbridge. To date, 187 Albertans have died from COVID-19.

88 people in the province are currently in hospital and 16 have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

659,235 tests have been completed in the province.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

Calgary zone – 6,407 cases, 710 active

  • 114 deaths
  • 230,191 tests

South zone – 1,616 cases, 140 active

  • 16 deaths
  • 40,072 tests

Edmonton zone – 1,575 cases, 276 active

  • 39 deaths (one new)
  • 182,820 tests

North zone – 515 cases, 107 active

  • 17 deaths
  • 46,088 tests

Central zone – 329 cases, 156 active

  • One death
  • 44,524 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,123 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 110 cases (eight new), 38 active, two deaths

West Lethbridge – 46 cases (one new), 12 active, one death

South Lethbridge – 33 cases (five new), 12 active

North Lethbridge – 31 cases (two new), 14 active, one death

  • Cardston County – 80 cases (four new), 25 active, two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 61 cases (three new), 10 active, one death
  • County of Warner – 53 cases, six active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 33 cases, 15 active
  • Fort Macleod – 31 cases, 9 active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, one active
  • Lethbridge County – 25 cases, eight active
  • County of Newell – 23 cases, three active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 22 cases, 12 active
  • County of Forty Mile – 12 cases (two new), three active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, one active
