Two days in a row, eight new COVID-19 cases in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

133 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 10,603. Of those, 1,430 cases are active while 8,983 people have recovered.

Of the new infections, 14 were in the South Health Zone.

This marks the second day in a row that Lethbridge has an additional eight cases. All of these today were on the south side.

Active infections in the city have reached 43, which is by far the highest during the pandemic.

Another three deaths in the Edmonton Zone have been confirmed, meaning the virus has claimed the lives of 190 Albertans to date.

668,226 tests for COVID-19 have been completed in the province.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 6,450 cases, 713 active
    • 114 deaths
    • 232,541 tests
  • South zone – 1,630 cases, 142 active
    • 16 deaths
    • 40,436 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 1,605 cases, 278 active
    • 42 deaths (three new)
    • 184,970 tests
  • North zone – 533 cases, 114 active
    • 17 deaths
    • 46,591 tests
  • Central zone – 357 cases, 175 active
    • One death
    • 45,326 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,123 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 118 cases (eight new), 43 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 46 cases, eight active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 42 cases (eight new), 21 active
    • North Lethbridge – 30 cases, 14 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 81 cases (one new), 22 active, two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 62 cases (one new), 10 active, one death
  • County of Warner – 53 cases, six active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 34 cases (one new), 16 active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases (two new), 11 active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, one active
  • Lethbridge County – 26 cases (one new), nine active
  • County of Newell – 23 cases, three active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 22 cases, 11 active
  • County of Forty Mile – 12 cases, three active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, one active
