Companies can show they are taking COVID-19 precautions with POST Promise

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Business leaders in the Lethbridge area are encouraging companies to take the POST Promise.

Standing for People Outside Safely Together, it is a pledge for organizations to show that they are taking the following five steps to keep their staff and customers safe from COVID-19:

  • Maintaining physical distance
  • Washing and sanitizing hands
  • Keeping workplaces clean and disinfected
  • Staying home if feeling unwell
  • Practicing respiratory etiquette, such as wearing a face mask when required

“The idea behind this movement is that, the more businesses and places adopt the POST program logo, the more recognizable it will become to the general public, thus increasing consumer confidence,” says Mike Prociw of Economic Development Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Region Economic Recovery Task Force.

Businesses can get decals to display in their storefronts.

Cyndi Vos, CEO of the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, clarifies that the POST Promise is not a “certification” or “approval” from any regulatory body.

She says it is, however, a visual display that will help to ensure customers feel safe entering your store.

There has been a rise in COVID-19 cases in Lethbridge in recent days, which Vos thinks could lead to more people becoming hesitant about going shopping or out to eat.

“There are people that avoid going into a place if there’s any level of uncertainty, so what this recognition does, it gives that consumer that’s looking and aware that certainty that that business is putting protocols into place.”

The Chamber hopes to compile a list of every local organization that is part of the POST Promise so consumers can easily see.
