Province reports five new COVID cases in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

127 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 10,843. 1,386 cases are active while 9,261 have recovered.

Of those, eight were in the South Health Zone. That includes five more infections in Lethbridge, which are spread out among all three areas.

One person from the Central Health Zone has died as a result of the virus, which is the second death for that region. Altogether, COVID-19 has claimed 196 lives in Alberta.

86 people are currently hospitalized provincially and 17 have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU). In the South Zone, 15 are in hospital and three in ICU.

  • 114 deaths

• South zone – 1,649 cases, 147 active
  • 16 deaths
  • 41,248 tests
• Edmonton zone – 1,647 cases, 272 active
  • 47 deaths
  • 187,719 tests
• North zone – 557 cases, 107 active
  • 17 deaths
  • 47,740 tests
• Central zone – 464 cases, 254 active
  • Two deaths (one new)
  • 47,181 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

• Brooks – 1,123 cases, one active, nine deaths
• Lethbridge – 127 cases (five new), 51 active, two deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 48 cases (one new), nine active, one death
  • South Lethbridge – 47 cases (two new), 25 active
  • North Lethbridge – 32 cases (two new), 17 active, one death
• Cardston County – 85 cases (one new), 23 active, two deaths
• Medicine Hat – 62 cases, eight active, one death
• County of Warner – 54 cases, five active, one death
• M.D. of Taber – 37 cases, 19 active
• Fort Macleod – 34 cases (one new), 11 active, one death
• Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
• Lethbridge County – 26 cases, eight active
• County of Newell – 24 cases (one new), four active
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 22 cases, 10 active
• County of Forty Mile – 12 cases, three active
• Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, one active
