COCHRANE, AB – One man suffered non-life-threatening injuries following a collision outside of Cochrane.

RCMP responded to reports of a dangerous driver on Highway 22 north of Cochrane early Sunday morning.

Witnesses say the vehicle was driving in the opposite lane of travel as other vehicles were approaching. Three vehicles “took evasive action” to avoid it.

A semi-truck tried to dodge the vehicle but clipped it, causing both to enter the ditch.

The suspect’s vehicle rolled and caught fire.

RCMP officers extracted the driver of the vehicle and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt.

Charges are anticipated for the driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man from Calgary.

The investigation is ongoing.
