LETHBRIDGE, AB ā€“ Face masks will be required to be worn in some facilities.

Starting Tuesday, August 4, passengers on Lethbridge Transit will have to utilize masks or other face coverings.

Additional measures have been announced in this regard.

Effective Friday, August 7, non-medical masks or face coverings will be mandatory for all individuals visiting or working in publicly-accessible spaces in city-owned or operated indoor facilities. This includes:

  • City Hall
  • Galt Museum
  • Fort Whoop-Up
  • Helen Schuler Nature Centre
  • Lethbridge Regional Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride Transit Terminal
  • Lethbridge Airport Terminal
  • Lethbridge Public Library (Downtown and Crossings branches)
  • Ice arenas

A limited number of disposable masks will be provided to people on buses and city facilities but residents are asked to bring their own face coverings if possible.

As well, the city is working with other facility operators such as CASA, the Lethbridge Animal Shelter, the Multicultural Centre, the Cor Van Raay YMCA, and for other swimming pools to implement mask mandates.

Guests are asked to check with facilities about mask regulations before attending.

City council has directed the city manager to look into legislating mandatory face mask usage city-wide. A draft bylaw is expected to be debated by council at their August 10 meeting.
