Results from Paradise Canyon’s club championship

LETHBRIDGE, AB – With sunshine and warm temperatures, Paradise Canyon welcomed golfers for its 2020 club championship this past weekend.

The golf resort hosted both adults and juniors for the two-day event.

In the end, it was Judd Blackwater finished as the overall men’s club champion, with scores of 74 and 69. Steve Landry was the overall men’s low net champion with scores of 68-66.

The overall ladies’ division champion was Deb Sewell, who shot an 82 and 87, with Jan Maaren shooting an 82 and 66 to be the overall low net champion.

The overall senior men’s division champion was Murray Brown (74 and 70), with Steve Chapman finishing as the overall low net champion in that division. Chapman shot a 70 and 67.

JUNIORS

Junior golfers also got to showcase their skills at the event.

On the 18-hole side, teeing off from the white tees, Jackson Wesley finished in first, followed by Seth Murphy and Thomas Ellis-Toddington.

From the blue tees on the 18-hole, Brennan Tailfeathers came away the champion.

Trent Wesley placed first from the yellow tees in the nine-hole championship. Nolan Pilsner finished in second, followed by Tim Laporte.

Additionally, junior boys competed in a five-hole championship, with Gage Myer finishing in first from the red tees.

Second place saw a three-way tie between James Selinger, Tate Vander-Heyden and Reid Ellis-Toddington. Owen Ellis-Toddington placed fifth.

For the junior girls nine-hole championship (yellow tees), Grace Murphy finished in first, with Madison Wesley in second and Brooklyn Lynch in third.

Paradise Canyon says their junior program reached its highest level of involvement this year.
