AHS confirms COVID-19 death in Cardston County, 15 cases in South Zone this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Monday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past three days.

359 cases were confirmed in that time with 177 on Friday, 86 Saturday, and 96 on Sunday. This brings the provincial total to 12,412. Of those, 1,132 cases are active while 11,056 people have recovered.

This includes 15 new infections in the South Health Zone with the bulk of those being in Brooks.

One person in Cardston County died as a result of the virus, although Alberta Health Services (AHS) did not specify their age, gender, or exact community of residence.

With COVID-19 deaths also being recorded in the Calgary and North Zones, it has claimed the lives of 224 Albertans to date.

45 patients are currently hospitalized and 10 have been admitted to intensive care units.

829,622 tests have been completed among 672,138 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 6,957 cases, 300 active
    • 117 deaths (one new)
    • 277,275 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 2,413 cases, 593 active
    • 56 deaths
    • 221,103 tests
  • South zone – 1,725 cases, 42 active
    • 22 deaths (one new)
    • 48,085 tests
  • North zone – 722 cases, 102 active
    • 23 deaths (one new)
    • 56,907 tests
  • Central zone – 561 cases, 85 active
    • Six deaths
    • 56,427 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,135 cases (10 new), four active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 144 cases (one new), eight active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 54 cases, five active
    • West Lethbridge – 52 cases (one new), two active, one death
    • North Lethbridge – 38 cases, one active, one death
  • Cardston County – 102 cases, four active, five deaths (one new)
  • Medicine Hat – 68 cases (one new), four active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 56 cases (one new), two active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 39 cases (one new), two active, one death
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, three active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • County of Newell – 30 cases (one new), four active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 30 cases, three active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 25 cases, two active, one death
  • County of Forty Mile – 20 cases, six active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
