Aug 18, 2020 | 3:29 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services were called out to a residential fire Tuesday afternoon on Fairmont Boulevard South.

A neighbour, Mark Peta, told LNN that he was in the basement of his home watching a hockey game when he heard a loud boom around 2:00 p.m. He went outside and saw a fire in the garage of a home on the corner of Fairmont Boulevard and Fairmont Road South. He then saw residents leaving the home and immediately called 911.

The fire appeared to spread through the house and then high wind whipped flames to an adjacent residence. Both homes were destroyed.

Firefighters also spent time hosing down a third home beside the second house. The third home sustained major damage.

There were no injuries reported and fire investigators are on scene, along with firefighters who are dealing with hot spots.

Residents are asked to avoid the area and allow crews the space they need to work.
