Cause of South Lethbridge house fire “undetermined”

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The investigating into a residential fire in South Lethbridge earlier this month has concluded, but we still do not know how it started.

At approximately 2:45 pm on Tuesday, August 18, firefighters from all three of the city’s stations were called to the 400 block of Fairmont Boulevard South as well as crews from Coaldale.

Upon their arrival, one home was fully engulfed in flames but it quickly spread to two others.

Two homes were destroyed while the third suffered major damage.

Damages are estimated at $1.5-million.

No one was hurt.

LNN was told by a neighbour that he heard a loud boom and saw a fire in the garage of the first house. Fire Prevention Officer Troy Hick said at the time that they were aware that the blaze originated in the garage.

Upon the completion of their investigation, they were not able to find out exactly what happened.
