More than $46,000 worth of drugs seized in Brooks bust

BROOKS, AB – Four people have been charged following an ALERT investigation in Brooks.

The ALERT organized crime team based in Medicine Hat executed three search warrants on August 19 in Brooks. The Brooks RCMP and Bassano RCMP assisted.

Over the course of the investigation, officials seized:

  • 425 grams of cocaine
  • 42 grams of methamphetamine
  • $1,200 in cash proceeds of crime
  • Prohibited weapons and drug trafficking paraphernalia

Officials say the items seized amount to more than $46,000.

“Shutting down this drug trafficking network is a big win for community safety in Brooks,” said Staff Sergeant Kelsey Fraser with Medicine Hat ALERT.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

  • 30-year-old Jak Burchell is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of proceeds of crime and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.
  • 56-year-old Brent Valin and 33-year-old Gary Valin are each charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
  • 20-year-old Adrianna Mcsavaney is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
