LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge College has taken a unique approach to welcoming new students.

New learners can expect to receive ‘Kodiak Kits’ in the mail. The first boxes were sent out last week.

Inside the kits, students will find a welcome letter, a new student checklist, a description of the college’s Blackfoot name, a pair of Lethbridge College socks and many other items designed to help them be ready for the upcoming year.

“Because of the unique nature of the upcoming academic year, we have students who will be taking classes in a variety of ways and from a variety of locations,” said Nancy Russell, Dean of Student Affairs.

“What they have in common is they’re all an important part of our college, and we want them to feel connected. The Kodiak Kits are one way we can show them we’re excited for them to join us and to give them a feel of what we’re all about.”

Students also have a chance to win $100 Lethbridge College gift cards by sharing their kits on Instagram with the hashtag #LCnso20 and #WeAreAllKodiaks.

Additionally, the traditional in-person orientation has been replaced with an online version, scheduled to take place on September 8.

Some trades programs started classes this week, while the majority of classes will begin at the college on September 9.

Multiple classes are set to be held online, with some labs and hands-on learning experiences taking place on campus. Students can still apply for the Fall 2020 semester.
