Eight of Alberta’s 164 new COVID cases are in South Health Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released Tuesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

164 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 14,066. Of those, 1,398 cases are active while 12,427 people have recovered.

This includes another eight infections in the South Health Zone with Lethbridge and the County of Forty Mile each having three and two more testing positive in Lethbridge County.

The County of Warner no longer has any active cases.

One person each in the Edmonton and North Zones died as a result of the virus, meaning COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 241 Albertans.

Provincially, 50 people are currently hospitalized and 10 have been admitted to intensive care units.

976,423 tests have been completed among 773,854 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is a follows:

  • Calgary zone – 7,596 cases, 626 active
    • 118 deaths
    • 318,309 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 3,159 cases, 542 active
    • 62 deaths (one new)
    • 254,455 tests
  • South zone – 1,748 cases, 30 active
    • 24 deaths
    • 54,400 tests
  • North zone – 943 cases, 171 active
    • 30 deaths (one new)
    • 67,889 tests
  • Central zone – 590 cases, 27 active
    • Seven deaths
    • 64,921 tests

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,128 cases, two active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 156 cases (three new), 13 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 59 cases (two new), eight active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 58 cases (one new), tfour active
    • North Lethbridge – 39 cases, one active, one death
  • Cardston County – 103 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 69 cases, two active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 59 cases, zero active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 38 cases, one active
  • Lethbridge County – 34 cases (two new), four active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, two active, one death
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 26 cases, zero active, one death
  • County of Forty Mile – 24 cases (three new), four active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
