LETHBRIDGE, AB– Lethbridge’s Exhibition Park will host the Rocky Mountain Turf Club’s Horse Races after the sport was put on pause because of the pandemic.

Starting September 5th, people can attend the races while ensuring social distancing protocols and are allowed up to 200 visitors outside on the grandstands.

Currently, there are 15 race days on the schedule after months of no competition.

The dates are as follows:

  • Sept. 5-7
  • Sept.12-13
  • Sept. 19-20
  • Sept. 25-27
  • Oct. 3-4
  • Oct. 10-12

The upper floors will be closed, however, to ensure safety with COVID-19 but the outside grandstands will be open for the public.

“Of course [COVID-19] has been a big effect, we were supposed to race in May and it didn’t happen but if you look at it globally, the Kentucky Derby didn’t happen.” Says Rockey Mountain Turf Club’s Rose Rossi.
