LETHBRIDGE, AB– In the spring of 2021 the Pronghorn Citizenship Award will be awarded to one female and one male Pronghorn Athlete.

The Pronghorn Citizenship Awards (PCA) will look to recognize and reward student-athletes who embody the values of Liberal Education and the broad University experience.

Pronghorn alumni Cam Slomp (BA ’92), U of L alumnus Terry Whitehead (BA ’94), and Shelly Wismath, the Dean of the School of Liberal Education are the sponsors of this new award.

Slomp transferred from the Lethbridge College and played three seasons in the Pronghorn blue and gold, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1992 and is happy to give back to the school.

“I was fortunate to attend the UofL as a student-athlete,” said Slomp.

“My experience on campus was a very formative time in my life. As a student, I discovered a whole new perspective of the world through my liberal education and by participating in a variety of campus activities and meeting people with different perspectives along the way.”

“As an athlete, I played with some remarkable teammates and benefitted from coaches who helped me mature as a basketball player and as a person. The Pronghorn Citizenship Award will hopefully inspire future Pronghorn student-athletes to really explore and embrace all the diverse academic and extra-curricular opportunities that benefitted me so much.”

To be eligible for the award, the Pronghorn student-athlete will need to be on a varsity eligibility certificate and will require a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
