Alberta sees 171 new COVID cases but only three in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – Alberta Health Services has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

171 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 16,128. Of those, 1,495 cases are active while 14,379 people have recovered.

This includes just three new infections in the South Health Zone with one each in West Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and the County of Forty Mile.

There are no longer any active cases in Lethbridge’s north and south sides.

There were no additional COVID deaths in the province, meaning the virus has still claimed the lives of 254 Albertans.

Provincially, 38 patients are currently hospitalized and six have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,156,369 tests have been completed among 893,747 Albertans.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 8,242 cases, 507 active
    • 120 deaths
    • 15 in hospital – five in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 4,145 cases, 710 active
    • 69 deaths
    • 19 in hospital – one in ICU
  • South zone – 1,787 cases, 34 active
    • 25 deaths
    • None in hospital
  • North zone – 1,268 cases, 207 active
    • 33 deaths
    • Four in hospital
  • Central zone – 649 cases, 32 active
    • Seven deaths
    • None in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,129 cases, two active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 169 cases (one new), eight active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 70 cases (one new), eight active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 59 cases, zero active
    • North Lethbridge – 40 cases, zero active, one death
  • Cardston County – 105 cases, four active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 75 cases (one new), four active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 62 cases, three active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 43 cases, seven active
  • M.D. of Taber – 40 cases, one active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 26 cases, zero active, one death
  • County of Forty Mile – 26 cases (one new), four active
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
