Eight of Alberta’s 146 new COVID cases are in South Health Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – Alberta Health Services has released Thursday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

146 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total 16,274. Of those, 1,483 cases are active while 14,537 people have recovered.

This includes eight infections in the South Health Zone with four in Medicine Hat, two in the County of Forty Mile, and once each in Lethbridge County and Brooks.

There were no additional COVID deaths anywhere in the province, leaving the number at 254 deaths.

Provincially, 41 patients are currently hospitalized and eight have been admitted to intensive care units.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

• Calgary zone – 8,275 cases, 470 active
  • 120 deaths
  • 15 in hospital – four in ICU
• Edmonton zone – 4,235 cases, 751 active
  • 69 deaths
  • 21 in hospital – four in ICU
• South zone – 1,795 cases, 38 active
  • 25 deaths
  • None in hospital
• North zone – 1,284 cases, 193 active
  • 33 deaths
  • Five in hospital
• Central zone – 649 cases, 29 active
  • Seven deaths
  • None in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

• Brooks – 1,130 cases (one new), three active, nine deaths
• Lethbridge – 169 cases, seven active, two deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 70 cases, seven active, one death
  • South Lethbridge – 59 cases, zero active
  • North Lethbridge – 40 cases, zero active, one death
• Cardston County – 105 cases, four active, five deaths
• Medicine Hat – 79 cases (four new), eight active, two deaths
• County of Warner – 62 cases, two active, one death
• Lethbridge County – 44 cases (one new), seven active
• M.D. of Taber – 40 cases, one active
• Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
• County of Newell – 32 cases, zero active, two deaths
• Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
• County of Forty Mile – 28 cases (two new), six active
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 26 cases, zero active, one death
• Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
